Golden Nuggets

Spring has sprung! Birds are chirping; trees are budding; and flowers are blooming. It is a wonderful time of year when new life comes to most living things. We feel happy and care-free much like Peter Cottontail hopping down the bunny trail. Emerging from our cozy cocoons of hibernation we venture out into the fresh air and the renewal of the Earth. However, somewhere in the back of our minds we know that this energized state of being will be short lived since Old Man Winter will come again. All this “new” life will be gone. But what if this “new” life did not go away with the seasons? In Lamentations 3:22 and 23 it states, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” This Easter let us be filled with the joy of Spring and the heart knowledge of the resurrection of a dear Savior. Our “new” life in Him is not bound by seasons or time. The phrase “forever Spring” takes on a whole different meaning. Make this Easter special by remembering that Jesus gives us mercy each morning so our lives will be renewed.

HAPPY EASTER AND HAPPY SPRING!!!!

Humor Me

A young man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at McDonald's.

He noticed that they had ordered one meal and an extra cup.

As he watched, the gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries, one for him, one for her, until each had half of them. Then he poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and set that in front of his wife. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would allow him to purchase another meal for them so that they didn't have to split theirs.

The old gentleman said, "Oh no. We've been married 50 years, and everything has always been and will always be shared, 50/50." The young man then asked the wife if she was going to eat, and she replied, "It's his turn with the teeth."

Senior of the Month

HADANAH SALAAM

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Hadannah is the 6th generation in the USA (3rd generation in Michigan but prior from Florida) from Ethiopia. She has one son and one daughter in Michigan and has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Hadanah was first brought to our attention by members of the North Wake Senior Center in Wake Forest as she was there frequently and always available to help others. As we got to know Hadanah, we saw her compassion for others. Although she has no car, she walks to a food bank to pick up food for her neighbors. She is always attentive to their needs.

In By researching further, we found that Hadanah with her BA degree in early childhood education, fostered special needs children for thirty years.

Having traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, the Caribbean, and elsewhere, Hadanah says that one of her most rewarding trips was when she went to Haiti on humanitarian relief.

Hadanah continues to teach Arabic and enjoys reading about nutrition, self-help, and medical topics and participates in aerobics at the Senior Center in Wake Forest.

Come meet Hadanah at the Renaissance Centre in Wake Forest as we enjoy the First Annual April Love Senior Talent Show.
