MICHAEL POLLARD'S STORY

I would like to start out by saying, " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
My life started some sixty plus years ago, the seventh child of Linwood and Bettie Pollard. Growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina in the Sixties was an interesting and challenging time, with segregation and racism leading the way. But in spite of all that, I survived and had a pretty good upbringing.
Growing up in the southeast side of Raleigh in the projects - Walnut Terrace to be exact about it. As children, my mother made sure that we were in church and involved in church. Our church that we attended was Davie Street Presbyterian Church. I recall a few times I would pretend to be sick. Mom knew better; and it never worked. As a child, I thought and acted like a child.
Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
As I went from a child to a teenager, I started going to church a little less. I still believed in God and maybe not as much faith. And as life goes on, I got married to Delores, my helpmate of almost forty years. We have three children, two daughters and one son - and four grandchildren. And none of this was part of my plan. We have all heard or said, "If you think God doesn't have a sense of humor, tell him your plans." We all have places we want to go; He puts us in places where we need to be, to learn and grow.
Over all, life was pretty good, having to go through life stuff. But I felt something was missing, so about eleven or twelve years ago, I started going to church. And the more I went, I started to get more involved in church as I was taught as a child. As more involved I became, I was apprached by the church secretary that she was going to nominate me to be an elder. I accepted and held the title for six years before I had to take a year off.
It is said in places of worship, bring your talents, gifts and there is a tithing place for you. So my talents and gifts are in the security field. I started a strong and sharp security team.
The Word says, "Blessed are the peacekeepers because they are the sons of God." Amen
Michael Pollard
